This page compares five pet carriers that fit the travel keyword: two Amazon Basics carriers, a Henkelion soft-sided carrier, a LEHNI collapsible carrier, and a 17 by 11 by 11 inch carrier from a seller whose brand field reads home. Every figure comes from the listing data, checked on 12 October 2026. Where a listing states two figures that disagree, both appear in the text, so you can see the gap before you choose.

Quick answer

The two Amazon Basics carriers are the largest in the group. The hard-sided two-door model measures 22.8 by 15 by 13 inches, and the soft-sided mesh model measures 20 by 12 by 12 inches. The other three carriers measure 17 by 11 by 11 inches, and their maximum weight figures run from 15 to 16 pounds.

If your pet is a cat or a small dog under about 12 pounds, the 17 inch carriers match the size and weight figures. If your pet is a medium dog, the hard-sided Amazon Basics model is the one the listing describes for dogs weighing 12 to 20 pounds. For a pet above 16 pounds, only the two Amazon Basics models list a higher limit, and the soft-sided model goes up to 22 pounds.

Side-by-side listing figures

The table uses the specification fields. Where a bullet or a title gives a different figure, the difference appears under the table.

Several rows disagree with other parts of the same listing. The Henkelion bullet gives a 15 by 9 by 9 inch pet size limit, which describes the pet rather than the carrier, while its size field gives 17 by 11 by 11 inches. The LEHNI bullet says it weighs only 2.2 pounds, but its item weight field gives 1.21 kilograms, about 2.67 pounds. The seller of the 17 inch carrier with the brand field home lists a title that says up to 16 pounds, while its maximum weight field says 15 pounds. The Amazon Basics soft-sided listing names cat as its target audience, while its title names dog and cat.

Amazon Basics hard-sided two-door carrier

The hard-sided model is the largest in the group. Its listed size is 22.8 by 15 by 13 inches, and its product dimensions field gives 22.83 by 14.96 by 12.99 inches. The bullets describe a hard-sided carrier with two doors for front and top entry, suitable for a cat or a medium dog weighing 12 to 20 pounds. The maximum weight field gives 9.07 kilograms, which is about 20 pounds.

The body is made of plastic with steel wire doors, and the material fields list PP and iron. The bullets say the top and bottom sections are held together by screws and that the spring latches open with one hand. The top door swings to the left or right, and a top carry handle is included. The bullets also describe plenty of ventilation on the sides, top, and back, and they say to measure the pet before choosing a size.

The listing states a color of gray and blue and a recommended use of traveling. It names car as the compatible vehicle type, and the closure type is listed as two-door top load.

Henkelion soft-sided collapsible carrier

The Henkelion carrier lists a size of 17 by 11 by 11 inches and a maximum weight of 15 pounds. Its item weight field gives 200 grams, or about 0.44 pounds, and its product dimensions field gives 7.05 ounces, which agrees with that figure. The dog breed size field says Small, and the target audience field says cat and dog.

The bullets describe two connecting loop handles that can serve as a dual seat belt or luggage strap, a shoulder strap that can be adjusted, and four mesh sides. They describe a polyester fabric body and a foldable design with a padded strap. The additional features field lists airline approved, collapsible, durable, foldable, lightweight, and portable. The recommended uses field lists traveling and overnight stays.

The one figure to check is the pet size note. The bullet says the medium carrier is designed for small and medium pets within 15 by 9 by 9 inches, and it asks buyers not to choose by weight alone. That reads as a limit on the pet, not the carrier, so compare the pet’s length and height against the carrier’s interior figures.

LEHNI collapsible soft-sided carrier

The LEHNI carrier lists a size of 17 by 11 by 11 inches, a maximum weight of 16 pounds, and an item weight of 1.21 kilograms. The item weight is the figure that conflicts with its bullet, which describes the carrier as only 2.2 pounds. The dog breed size field lists large, medium, and small, which is wider than any other carrier in this group.

The bullets describe a steel cage structure with a wooden support board, breathable mesh on four sides, and four easy entrances for the pet. They say the carrier can sit under the seats of most airplanes, with four non-slip feet on the base, and that it can also sit on a car seat or bus seat with the shoulder strap. The soft mat inside is described as removable and washable.

The listing says it folds flat for storage. The bullet also says it can double as a toy or pet house where a pet can play, a use the other four listings do not mention.

Collapsible soft-sided carrier, 17 by 11 by 11 inches

This carrier lists the same 17 by 11 by 11 inch size as the Henkelion and the LEHNI, with a maximum weight of 15 pounds. Its title says up to 16 pounds, which is the one place where the title and the weight field disagree. Its item weight is 0.85 kilograms, about 1.87 pounds, and its dog breed size field says Small.

The bullets list three sides and the top in nylon mesh, metal zippers on the top and side entrances, and a steel ring that gives the body its shape. They describe a detachable wool pet bed that can be washed by hand, and an adjustable shoulder strap. The features field lists airline approved, breathable, and crash tested, with the last term taken directly from the listing.

The listing’s compatible vehicle field names both airplane and car. The warranty description field reads 2 year. The brand field reads home rather than a company name, so check the seller information before you buy.

Amazon Basics soft-sided mesh carrier, 20 by 12 by 12 inches

The second Amazon Basics carrier is the soft-sided mesh model. It measures 20 by 12 by 12 inches, and its size field matches the product dimensions. The maximum weight is 22 pounds, the highest in this group. The item weight is 2.9 pounds, and its listed name reads AmazonBasics Black Soft-Sided Pet Carrier, Large.

The bullets describe a large soft-sided carrier, a removable fleece pad that can be machine washed, mesh ventilation panels, and front and top zippered openings. They say the carrier has connecting top handles and an adjustable shoulder strap, and they say the carrier conforms to the under-seat dimensions of most airlines. The care instruction for the fleece pad is to wash it separately in cool water, use mild detergent, and line dry it.

The bullets also say to measure the pet from the neck to the base of the tail and from the floor to the top of the shoulder before choosing. The listing’s target audience field says cat, while its title names dog and cat. The dog breed size field says Large.

Worked example: room and weight headroom for a 14 pound cat

Start with interior volume, using the listed outside size as a stand-in. A 17 by 11 by 11 inch carrier has 2,057 cubic inches of space. The 20 by 12 by 12 inch carrier has 2,880 cubic inches, about 40 percent more. The hard-sided Amazon Basics model, at 22.8 by 15 by 13 inches, works out to about 4,437 cubic inches, which is roughly 2.2 times the 17 inch carriers. These are outside figures, so the usable interior will be smaller, and the listings do not give interior dimensions.

Now take a 14 pound cat. The 15 pound maximum on the Henkelion and the collapsible 17 inch carrier leaves about one pound of headroom, which is 7 percent of the pet’s weight. The LEHNI carrier, at 16 pounds, leaves 2 pounds. The hard-sided Amazon Basics model, at 20 pounds, leaves 6 pounds, and the soft-sided Amazon Basics model, at 22 pounds, leaves 8 pounds. On weight alone, the two Amazon Basics models give the most margin. The listings also say to measure the pet, and that measurement, not the weight, decides the fit.

A 15 pound pet would sit exactly at the 15 pound maximum of the Henkelion and the collapsible 17 inch carriers, which leaves no margin at all. The Henkelion bullet’s 15 by 9 by 9 inch pet guidance is 1,215 cubic inches, about 59 percent of the 2,057 cubic inches of its listed carrier. That gap is why measuring the pet is the more useful check.

How we chose these five listings

The keyword names Amazon Basics, carriers, and travel products. The research pool for this keyword holds seven listings: five soft-sided or hard-sided carriers, a waist-worn pet seat, and a collapsible dog crate for large dogs. We left out the waist-worn seat and the crate, because neither is a carrier. That leaves five carriers, two of them from Amazon Basics.

The sections run in the order the research pool lists them, and the table follows the same order. The listings give no basis for ranking them on quality, durability, or comfort, and no product was run through a trial for this page. We compare only what each listing states.

What we could not verify

The listing data is the only source for this page. It contains no independent test results for strength, latch durability, seam quality, or how any carrier performs in a car or on a plane. The listings say a carrier is airline approved or crash tested, but the data does not show which airline, which seat, or which test. Under-seat fit is also a listing claim for most of these products, and the listings do not name a specific airline’s limit.

The listings disagree in several places. The Henkelion pet size note and its carrier size do not match. The LEHNI item weight and its bullet differ. The 17 inch carrier with the home brand field has a title that says 16 pounds and a weight field that says 15 pounds. The Amazon Basics soft-sided listing names cat as its target audience but its title names dog as well. Settle these with the seller before you rely on any single figure.

The data was checked on 12 October 2026. Listings change, so confirm the current size and weight figures on the product page before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Which carrier has the most room on the listed figures?

The hard-sided Amazon Basics carrier has the largest listed size, at 22.8 by 15 by 13 inches. The soft-sided Amazon Basics mesh carrier is next, at 20 by 12 by 12 inches. The three carriers that list 17 by 11 by 11 inches are the smallest in the group.

Can a 14 pound cat fit in a 15 pound carrier?

The listings give a 15 pound maximum, which leaves about one pound of headroom for a 14 pound cat. The listings also say to measure the pet’s length and height, and they do not treat weight as the only check. Measure the cat before you choose a 15 pound carrier.

Do these carriers fit under an airline seat?

The listings describe airline approval, and two of them say the carrier can sit under the seat of most airplanes. The data does not give the under-seat dimensions of any airline, so check the airline’s size limit against the listed outside dimensions before you travel.

Which listings disagree on size or weight?

Three listings disagree with themselves. The Henkelion bullet gives a pet size of 15 by 9 by 9 inches, while its carrier size is 17 by 11 by 11 inches. The LEHNI bullet says 2.2 pounds, while its item weight field gives about 2.67 pounds. The 17 inch carrier with the home brand field has a title that says up to 16 pounds and a weight field that says 15 pounds.

Conclusion

The five carriers split into two sizes. The two Amazon Basics models are the larger options, at 20 by 12 by 12 inches and 22.8 by 15 by 13 inches, and the Amazon Basics hard-sided carrier is the only one in this group that the listing describes for a medium dog. The other three measure 17 by 11 by 11 inches, with listed maximums of 15 and 16 pounds.

Start with the pet’s measurements, then check the weight figure against the pet’s weight with room to spare. Where a listing disagrees with itself, ask the seller which figure is correct before you buy, and confirm the airline’s under-seat limit separately.
