Best Dog Door Mat: Seven Mats Compared by Size, Backing and Use

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Details

The best dog door mat is the one whose listed size, thickness and use note fit your entryway. This guide compares seven dog door mats from Amazon listings read on 22 October 2026. Six are chenille mats and one is a polypropylene, polyester and rubber mat. Their areas run from 3.96 to 15.00 square feet, and none of the listings gives a figure for the gap under a door.

Quick answer

  • Start with size and clearance. The areas range from 3.96 to 15.00 square feet, and no listing states the clearance a door needs, so measure the gap under your door before you order.
  • Check the use note in both the bullets and the specifications. Four listings give use notes that do not line up between those two places.
  • Check the thickness. Six mats are listed at 1 inch thick, and the Tindbea mat is listed at 0.4 inch.
  • Keep drying paws as a separate step. The sources we opened describe wiping or toweling paws after a walk, and none of them mentions a door mat. Treat the mud and floor wording on the listings as listing claims, because none of the sources we opened says a mat keeps floors clean.

How the seven mats compare

Table 1 uses only the figures each listing states. Area and pounds per square foot are calculated from those figures.

Formula for area: length in inches x width in inches, divided by 144, gives square feet. Formula for weight density: listed weight in pounds, divided by area in square feet, gives pounds per square foot. For example, 60 x 36 = 2,160 square inches, and 2,160 / 144 = 15.00 square feet. Then 6.68 / 15.00 = 0.45 pounds per square foot.

Listing Size as listed Area Thickness Weight Pounds per sq ft Use as the listing states
Naturei 60 x 36 in 15.00 sq ft 1 in 6.68 lb 0.45 Specifications: indoor, outdoor, car. Bullets: indoor and outdoor
Amyracel 72 x 24 in 12.00 sq ft 1 in 5 lb 0.42 Specifications: indoor. Bullets: entrance passages, kitchens, bathrooms, pet cages, under dog bowls, under car seats
Futurwit 48 x 36 in 12.00 sq ft 1 in 5.31 lb 0.44 Specifications: indoor. Bullets: indoor and outdoor
MUDGUARD MAT 19 x 30 in (Size field) 3.96 sq ft 1 in 1.46 lb 0.37 Title and specifications: indoor
EHEYCIGA 30 x 20 in 4.17 sq ft 1 in 2.07 lb 0.50 Specifications: front door mat outside entrance, indoor outdoor rugs. Bullets: front doors, mudrooms, patios, garden sheds
Bcoimo 30 x 20 in 4.17 sq ft 1 in 1.7 lb 0.41 Specifications: car, indoor, outdoor. Bullets: indoor floors
Tindbea 59 x 24 in 9.83 sq ft 0.4 in 3 lb 0.31 Specifications: indoor. Bullets: indoor, entrance, porch, patio

Two patterns stand out. The Naturei mat has the largest area at 15.00 square feet, and the Amyracel and Futurwit mats each give 12.00 square feet. Amyracel and Tindbea are both 24 inches wide, and Amyracel is the longer of the two at 72 inches against 59 inches.

Pounds per square foot measures weight for size only. It does not tell you how well a mat absorbs or grips. EHEYCIGA and Bcoimo share the same 30 by 20 inch size, and their listed weights of 2.07 and 1.7 pounds give 0.50 and 0.41 pounds per square foot.

Table 2 sets out what each listing says about backing, care and other claims. These are the listings’ own words.

Listing Backing, as the listing states it Care, as the listing states it Other claims in the listing, as stated
Naturei TPR bottom Shake off dust, vacuum if needed, or machine wash “Stain Resistant” in a bullet heading; “absorbent”
Amyracel Textured TP backing Clean after use, keep indoors, machine wash on a gentle cycle Absorbs up to 5 times its weight in moisture; odor control in specifications
Futurwit Non-slip rubber backing Shake off, vacuum, machine wash Fade resistant in specifications; warranty type limited
MUDGUARD MAT Non-slip TPE backing Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle, then air dry Quick dry and foldable in specifications
EHEYCIGA Upgraded TPR backing Machine wash OEKO-TEX certified and 1600GSM, both listing claims
Bcoimo TPR backing Do not bleach; machine wash; tumble dry low; do not dry clean; no fabric softener Scratch resistant and breathable in specifications; 1-month return and replacement service
Tindbea Textured TPR base Shake off, or machine wash Water resistant and non skid bottom in specifications

All seven listings say the mat can be machine washed. The care lines differ in detail. Bcoimo’s specifications give the fullest set of instructions: do not bleach, tumble dry low, do not dry clean and do not use fabric softener. Amyracel’s specifications add “clean after use” and “keep indoors.” None of the listings gives a washing schedule, and this post gives none either, because the sources we opened do not cover mats.

Reading the listing fields

Each listing in the research file has a title, five bullets and a full specification table, and this post uses all of them. The fields do not always agree, so it helps to know what each one tells you.

  • The title is the name the seller chose. In this set every title names a dog, a pet or muddy paws, and some titles include a size or breed word that the specifications do not repeat.
  • The bullets are the seller’s own text. They often give a use, a backing or a claim, and some of those claims do not appear in the specification table.
  • The specification table has fields such as Product Dimensions, Item Dimensions, Size, Recommended Uses For Product and Product Care Instructions. These can differ. For MUDGUARD MAT, the Product Dimensions field reads 30 x 19 x 1 inches, the item dimensions field reads 30 x 20 x 1 inches, and the Size field reads 19 x 30 inches.
  • Some model number fields do not read like a model number. In the Bcoimo listing, the model number field reads “Dog Bed Mats.”

Product picks

Each entry below sets out one listing’s figures, a use, one strength the listing states, one limit and when to skip it. The cards after the last entry list pros and cons from the same listings.

Naturei Chenille Door Mat, 60 x 36 inches

Who it suits: a household that wants the largest area in this set. The listing says it is “ideal for indoor and outdoor use,” and its specifications also list car as a use.

Strength: the listing says the chenille edges are double-stitched and reinforced, which it links to keeping the mat’s shape.

Limit: at 6.68 pounds it is the heaviest of the seven, so it is the hardest to lift for shaking out or washing.

Skip if: your entry has less room than 60 by 36 inches, or you want a mat you can lift without effort.

Amyracel Dog Door Mat, 72 x 24 inches

Who it suits: a long, narrow space, since the mat is 72 inches long and 24 inches wide.

Strength: the listing says its thick plush chenille pile “absorbs up to 5 times its weight in moisture,” and its specifications list odor control.

Limit: the specifications say indoor, while the bullets also name car seats among its uses.

Skip if: you need a mat the listing describes for outdoor use.

Futurwit Dog Door Mat for Muddy Paws, 48 x 36 inches

Who it suits: a medium-sized entry or a spot by a back door, at 12.00 square feet.

Strength: the listing describes a non-slip rubber backing that “stays firmly in place,” and its specifications list fade resistance.

Limit: the title says “for Dogs Large,” but the specifications give Dog Breed Size as All.

Skip if: the large-dog wording matters to you and you cannot confirm it from the listing.

MUDGUARD MAT Dog Door Muddy Mat, 19 x 30 inches

Who it suits: a small indoor spot such as an entryway, a bathroom or a kitchen, which are the places its bullets name.

Strength: the listing describes a super absorbent microfiber surface and lists quick dry among its features.

Limit: the Size field and title say 19 by 30 inches, but the item dimensions field says 30 by 20 inches, and the listing does not settle which is right.

Skip if: you need an outdoor mat, since the title and specifications both say indoor.

EHEYCIGA Super Absorbent Dog Door Mat, 30 x 20 inches

Who it suits: an owner who wants a 30 by 20 inch mat for a front door, a mudroom, a patio or a garden shed, which are the places the bullets name.

Strength: the listing says its upgraded TPR backing “grips surfaces firmly,” and it says the mat is completely machine washable.

Limit: the OEKO-TEX certification and the 1600GSM figure appear only as listing claims.

Skip if: you need the OEKO-TEX or 1600GSM wording confirmed before you buy.

Bcoimo Chenille Doormat, 30 x 20 inches

Who it suits: a small or medium dog owner who wants an indoor mat by a door, a feeding area or a crate. The bullets name those spots, and the specifications list breed sizes extra small, small and medium.

Strength: the specifications give the most detailed care line in the set: do not bleach, tumble dry low, do not dry clean and no fabric softener.

Limit: the model number field reads “Dog Bed Mats,” and the bullets describe indoor floors while the specifications list car and outdoor use.

Skip if: you need the model number to match the title.

Tindbea Dog Door Mat for Mud Paws, 59 x 24 inches

Who it suits: an owner who wants a long, low mat, since the listing describes a slim 0.4-inch profile and says the design keeps doors from getting stuck.

Strength: the specifications list water resistant and non skid bottom, and the bullets say the mat “stays securely in place.”

Limit: the specifications give Dog Breed Size as Medium and Breed Recommendation as Big, and they say indoor where the bullets also name porch and patio.

Skip if: you want a mat about 1 inch thick.

How we chose

Human door mats were dropped by title. Every listing in this set has a title that names a dog, a pet or muddy paws, so no listing written for a human doormat appears in the comparison.

Seven listings are kept. Each has five bullets and a full specification table in the research file, and this post uses all of them. The page covers the whole range these listings offer, from 3.96 to 15.00 square feet, rather than separate pages for each size.

We did not rank the seven. The picks appear in the order we read them, and that order is not a ranking. Where two fields disagree, we show both and do not pick one.

Claims about mud, dirt, floors and hygiene come from three non-Amazon sources opened with curl on 22 October 2026: AKC, ASPCA and VCA Animal Hospitals. Other claims are attributed to the listing that makes them.

Buying checklist

  1. Measure the gap under the door and the floor area you want covered, then compare that area with the area column in Table 1.
  2. Read the use note in both places. For four listings the bullets and the specifications do not line up, so confirm the use that matters to you in both.
  3. Check the thickness. Six mats are listed at 1 inch, and Tindbea is listed at 0.4 inch.
  4. Check the backing against your floor. The listings name TPR, TPE, rubber and TP backings, and EHEYCIGA says “For best results, place on dry surfaces.”
  5. Read the care line before you buy. All seven say machine washable, and Bcoimo adds no bleach, low tumble drying and no fabric softener.
  6. Keep a towel near the door. AKC says a quick toweling “can help dry clean but wet paws,” and none of the sources we opened says a mat replaces that step. For a towel to keep there, see our absorbent dog towels guide.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Treating the mat as the paw-cleaning step. VCA says “After the walk, gently wipe your dog’s paws with a towel or grooming wipes,” and none of the three sources mentions a door mat.
  • Reading “indoor” as “outdoor” or the reverse. MUDGUARD says indoor in its title and specifications, while Futurwit’s bullets say indoor and outdoor and its specifications say indoor.
  • Buying on the bullets alone. Futurwit’s title says “for Dogs Large” while its specifications say All, and Tindbea’s specifications give both Medium and Big.
  • Using bleach or fabric softener on a washable mat. Bcoimo’s specifications say not to bleach and not to use fabric softener.
  • Treating a chew claim as proof. EHEYCIGA’s bullets say the mat is “resistant to claws and chewing,” and Amyracel’s bullets tell owners to check for loose fibers and to replace a damaged mat “to avoid digestive risks.” If your dog eats fibers from a mat, ask your vet.
  • Assuming all seven mats share one thickness. Six are listed at 1 inch, and Tindbea is listed at 0.4 inch.

What we could not verify

  • MUDGUARD MAT size. The title and Size field say 19 by 30 inches. The item dimensions field says 30 by 20 inches, and the product dimensions field says 30 by 19 inches. The listing does not settle which applies, and this post does not either.
  • Bcoimo model number. The model number field reads “Dog Bed Mats,” while the title calls the item a doormat. The listing does not say what the model number refers to.
  • EHEYCIGA OEKO-TEX and 1600GSM. The listing calls the mat “OEKO-TEX certified” and gives a “1600GSM” figure. Both are listing claims only. The listing names no certificate number, and the sources we opened do not cover mat certification or pile weight.
  • Chewing claims. EHEYCIGA’s bullets say the mat is “resistant to claws and chewing,” and say a pet “can’t destroy” it. None of the sources we opened describes any mat in this set as chew-proof, so this post repeats neither wording as fact.
  • Absorbency figures. Amyracel says its pile “absorbs up to 5 times its weight in moisture,” and EHEYCIGA says its mat “absorbs up to 5x its own weight in water.” The sources we opened do not cover either figure.
  • Floor protection. Naturei’s bullets say the mat protects floors “from stains and messes caused by pets,” and Futurwit’s bullets describe “ensuring your floors stay spotless.” The sources we opened do not say that any mat keeps floors clean.
  • Orthopedic wording. Amyracel’s specifications say “orthopedic support.” The sources we opened do not cover mats as orthopedic support, so this post does not repeat the phrase.
  • Door clearance. None of the seven listings gives a clearance figure. Amyracel says its “low 1-inch profile fits most entry doors without jamming,” which is a listing claim.
  • Breed sizes. Futurwit’s title says “for Dogs Large” while its specifications say All, and Tindbea’s specifications give Medium and Big.
  • Durability. The sources we opened do not cover how long chenille, TPR, TPE or polypropylene mats last. Where a listing calls a mat durable, we attribute the word to that listing.
  • Washing. The care lines are listing claims. The sources we opened give no washing schedule for mats.
  • Warranty. Futurwit’s specifications give a warranty type of Limited with no term. Bcoimo’s listing gives a 1-month return and replacement service.
  • Tindbea backing. The bullets call its TPR backing “patented.” The sources we opened do not cover that claim.

FAQ

Does a dog door mat keep mud off my floors?

The listings say so in their own words, but the sources we opened do not say that any mat keeps floors clean. AKC describes toweling wet paws, which it says can “prevent your dog from slipping on hardwood floors.” That is about drying paws, not about a mat.

How do I choose the size?

Start with the space you want covered and the gap under the door. The largest area in this set is the Naturei mat at 15.00 square feet. The smallest is the MUDGUARD MAT at 3.96 square feet, using its Size field. EHEYCIGA and Bcoimo each give 4.17 square feet at 30 by 20 inches.

Can I use a dog door mat outdoors?

It depends on the listing. Naturei says indoor and outdoor, and EHEYCIGA’s specifications list “front door mat outside entrance.” MUDGUARD says indoor, and Futurwit’s bullets say both while its specifications say indoor. The sources we opened do not cover how any of these mats handles weather. For the car side of this question, see our dog car seat cover guide.

Can a dog door mat go in the washing machine?

All seven listings say it is machine washable. Bcoimo’s specifications say do not bleach, tumble dry low and do not use fabric softener. MUDGUARD’s bullets say a cold, gentle cycle and air dry. This post gives no washing schedule, because the listings do not state one and the sources we opened do not cover mats.

Is a mat enough to clean my dog’s paws after a walk?

No source we opened says so. AKC says “Dog wipes or other moist wipes labeled safe for pet use can help clean muddy, sandy, or salty paws quickly.” VCA says that after returning from a walk you should “wash or wipe your dog’s paws with warm water, a cloth or grooming wipes.” ASPCA says “After each walk, make sure to wash and dry your pet’s feet and stomach to remove ice, salt and chemicals.”

What about salt and ice melt on paws?

VCA says rock salt and other salt-based deicers are “toxic if eaten directly off the ground or licked off paws once inside.” If your dog has licked deicer or seems unwell, ask your vet. For the boot side of winter walks, see our dog paw snow boots guide.

Bottom line

Start with size and clearance, then check the use note in both the bullets and the specifications. Choose the mat whose listing states the backing and care you need, and keep a towel by the door, since the sources we opened describe wiping and drying paws and none of them describes a mat doing that job. If the floor around the door is the bigger concern, see our area rugs for dog hair guide.
