Best Dog Hair Clips: 8 Listings Compared by Size and Count

Best Dog Hair Clips: 8 Listings Compared by Size and Count

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Details

This guide to the best dog hair clips covers eight Amazon listings from six brands. Seven are small bows and one is a snap clip, in sizes of 1 inch, 1.5 inches or 2 inches and in packs of 20 to 60 pieces. We worked from the bullets and specifications in our research file, checked on 22 October 2026, and report only what those listings state. The grooming pages we opened do not cover clips, so this guide makes no claim that any clip is safe for a dog’s skin, eyes or hair.

Quick answer

  • Size comes first. Four bow listings state 1.5 inches, three state 2 inches, and the snap clip states 1 inch.
  • Count pairs before you compare packs. Pairs equal pieces divided by two, so a 60-piece set gives 30 pairs and the 20-piece pack gives 10.
  • Clip type is stated for five listings and missing for three, so check it before you order.
  • Three listings say their clips hold firmly, stay attached or will not fall off. Those are listing claims, and the grooming pages we opened do not cover clips.

What each listing states

Figures in the table come from the listing title (title), the feature bullets (bullets) or the specification block (spec). Not stated means the listing text in our research file does not say it.

Listing Size Clip type Dog size or breed Care
PET SHOW, 20 pieces 1 inch (title) Bone snap (title) Not stated Not stated
QingHan, 60 pieces 1.5 inch (bullets) Alligator clips (bullets) Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Maltese (bullets) Not stated
YAKA, 60 pieces 1.5 inch long, 0.98 inch wide (bullets) Stainless steel alligator clips (bullets) Small (spec); “big small and medium dogs” (bullets) Hand wash only (spec)
JUCCPUL, 40 pieces 1.5 inch (title, bullets) Alligator clips with hot glue (bullets) Small and medium dogs (bullets) Not stated
ondware, 60 bows 1.5 inch (title, bullets) Metal alligator clips (bullets) Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Maltese, other small dogs or cats (bullets) Not stated
JUCCPUL, 40 pieces, 2 inch 2 inch (title) Not stated Not stated Not stated
JUCCPUL, 24 pieces, pink 2 inch (title) Not stated Cats, dogs, small animals (spec) Not stated
XIMA, 48 pieces 2 inch (spec) Not stated Dogs (spec) Not stated

Piece count from the listed figures

Pairs equal pieces divided by two. Pieces per style equals pieces divided by the number of styles or colors the listing states. Both use only figures printed in the listing text, so they check whether the listed numbers add up rather than measure the product.

Listing Pieces Pairs Styles or colors stated Pieces per style
PET SHOW 20 10 Not stated Not calculated
QingHan 60 30 30 styles (bullets) 2
YAKA 60 30 30 colors (bullets) 2
JUCCPUL, 40 pieces, 1.5 inch 40 20 Not stated Not calculated
ondware 60 30 30 patterns (bullets) 2
JUCCPUL, 40 pieces, 2 inch 40 20 Not stated Not calculated
JUCCPUL, 24 pieces, pink 24 12 12 styles (bullets) 2
XIMA 48 24 24 colors (bullets) 2

For QingHan, 60 ÷ 30 = 2, so each of the 30 styles comes in two pieces, as the bullets say. The same division gives 2 for YAKA, ondware, the pink JUCCPUL set and XIMA. The XIMA pair count uses the title, because its bullet says 12 pairs.

What the grooming sources say

Hair clips and bows are an accessory, not a grooming tool. The three grooming pages we opened, from AKC, ASPCA and Cornell, do not mention hair bows, barrettes or hair accessories. They do cover brushing, so the coat advice below is about brushes, not clips.

AKC’s grooming guide says that “Regular brushing removes dirt, debris, loose hair, and dandruff while helping distribute natural oils throughout the coat.” It adds that “Most dogs only need a few brushing sessions a week, though long-coated breeds often do best with daily brushing.” Those lines are AKC’s advice on frequency.

On shedding, the ASPCA’s grooming tips say that “While you cannot stop a healthy dog from normal shedding, you can reduce the amount of hair in your home by brushing your dog regularly.”

Cornell’s Riney Canine Health Center says brushing “helps prevent painful matting, reduces shedding and supports healthy skin by distributing natural oils.” That is a statement about brushing, not clips.

None of these lines covers clips, so this guide does not say that a clip is safe for a dog’s skin, eyes or hair, and it gives no advice on how long a clip can stay in.

The listings make their own claims about fur and comfort. Ondware says its bows are “Soft and gentle on fur” and “comfortable for long periods”. Those are listing claims, and we have no outside source for them.

For the brush side of coat care, see our guide to brushes for loose hair and our de-shedding tool guide for short-haired dogs. Owners of long-coated dogs can start with the deshedding brush guide for long-haired dogs, and anyone choosing between brush types can compare sets in the dog brush kit guide.

Product picks

Each entry names the owner the listing suits, one strength, one limit and a skip line. All figures come from the listing text in our research file.

PET SHOW 1-inch bone snap clips, pack of 20

This suits an owner who wants one small snap clip in a small pack, since that is what the title describes. The bullets say the clips suit both long and short hair, and at 20 pieces this is the smallest pack in the set. The bullets never describe how the clip fastens, and the specification block names Bysitshow as the manufacturer rather than PET SHOW.

Skip if: you need to know how the clip fastens before you order.

QingHan 1.5-inch bows, 60 pieces

This suits owners of very small breeds who want many styles in one order, because the bullets name Yorkies, Shih Tzus and Maltese. The bullets say the set has 30 unique styles with two bows each, which the piece count matches. The specification block lists the size as X-Large and the material as Spandex, which conflict with the 1.5-inch alligator-clip bullets, so we show both figures and choose neither.

Skip if: the size or the material decides your purchase, because the two parts of this listing disagree.

YAKA 1.5-inch bows with metal clips, 60 pieces

This suits owners who want bow measurements in both units: the bullets give 1.5 inches (40 mm) long and 0.98 inch (25 mm) wide. The bullets name stainless steel alligator clips, and the specification block gives the only care line in this set, which is Hand Wash Only. The breed and weight notes do not agree with each other, since Dog Breed Size says Small, the bullets say “suitable for big small and medium dogs”, and the Minimum Weight Recommendation says 60 pounds.

Skip if: you need one clear weight or breed range before you order.

JUCCPUL 1.5-inch bows, 40 pieces

This suits owners of a small or medium dog who want 1.5-inch bows in a 40-piece set, since the bullets say the set suits small and medium dogs. The bullets say the handmade bow and alligator clips are “glued together with hot glue for double fixation”, which is the listing’s own description of how the bow is attached. The listing gives no style count for the 40 pieces and no care instruction.

Skip if: you want care instructions printed in the listing before you buy.

ondware 1.5-inch bows with metal clips, 60 pieces

This suits owners of Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Maltese or other small dogs, since the bullets name those breeds. The bullets say the metal clips “stay firmly attached during everyday activities or play, preventing slips”, which is a listing claim and not an outside check. The specification block gives Number of Items as 1, while the title and bullets describe 60 bows.

Skip if: a one-item count on the spec field would leave you unsure of the set size.

JUCCPUL 2-inch bows, 40 pieces

This suits owners who want 2-inch bows for the occasions the bullets list: picnics, shopping, birthday parties and daily walks. The title gives the 2-inch size, and the bullets say the package has “40 pieces/ 20 pairs puppy bows in various colors”. Neither the bullets nor the specification block states a clip type, and neither gives a dog size or breed range.

Skip if: the clip type is a deciding factor for you.

JUCCPUL 2-inch pink bows, 24 pieces

This suits owners who want pink 2-inch bows, which the bullets describe as lace, rhinestone and pearl styles. The bullets name 12 different styles, so the 24 pieces give two of each style (24 ÷ 12 = 2). The listing text offers pink only, and it does not name a clip type.

Skip if: a mix of colors matters to you.

XIMA 2-inch mixed-color bows, 48 pieces

This suits owners who want a larger mixed-color set, and the bullets say the package holds 24 colors. The bullets say “24colors each color 2pcs”, which matches the 48-piece count (48 ÷ 24 = 2). The title says 24 pairs, but the bullet says “48PCS(12pairs)”, so the two figures disagree and we show both.

Skip if: you need the pair count settled before you buy.

How we chose

The eight listings come from our research file, which records a search of Amazon.com read on 22 October 2026. The file holds six brands: PET SHOW, QingHan, YAKA, JUCCPUL, ondware and XIMA. JUCCPUL has three listings in the set, so this guide does not give each maker one entry.

The criteria we can state from the file are these: each listing’s title names dogs, and each listing has a full specification block. The file does not record how many other results were read or why they were left out, so this guide gives no count of candidates and no ranking. The order of the picks follows the file, not a score. Where a title, a bullet and a specification disagree, we show both figures and say so.

Buying checklist

  1. Choose the bow length first. The listings state 1 inch, 1.5 inches or 2 inches, and no listing gives a head or ear measurement.
  2. Confirm the clip type. Four bow listings name alligator clips in their bullets, the PET SHOW title names a bone snap clip, and three listings name no clip type.
  3. Work out the pairs. Pairs equal pieces divided by two, so compare sets on that figure rather than the pack name.
  4. Read the breed and weight notes side by side. The YAKA listing gives Small, a 60-pound minimum and “big small and medium dogs” in one place.
  5. Look for a care line. Only YAKA states one, which is hand wash only.
  6. Treat hold claims as listing claims. Three listings make them, and the grooming pages we opened do not cover clips.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Buying by pack size alone. A 60-piece set gives 30 pairs and the 20-piece pack gives 10, but more pairs help only when the bow length and clip type also suit the dog.
  • Reading a title as a weight or breed note. The two 2-inch JUCCPUL titles say “Small Dog Apparel”, yet their text gives no weight or breed range.
  • Taking “will not fall off” as proof. The listing says it, but it gives no figure and no outside source covers clips.
  • Ignoring the QingHan specification conflict. A size of X-Large and a material of Spandex do not match the 1.5-inch alligator-clip bullets.
  • Using brushing advice to answer a bow question. The grooming pages cover brushes, so they do not settle which bow to buy.
  • Guessing at washing. YAKA’s specification says Hand Wash Only, and the other seven listings do not say how to clean their bows.

What we could not verify

  • Whether any clip is safe for a dog’s skin, eyes or hair. The only skin-related wording in the set is ondware’s “Soft and gentle on fur”, which is a listing claim.
  • Whether a clip stays in place on a moving dog. Three listings say so, but none gives a grip figure, and the pages we opened do not cover clips.
  • The clip type for the two JUCCPUL 2-inch sets and the XIMA set, since none of their text names one.
  • QingHan’s size of X-Large and material of Spandex, which conflict with its bullets. We show both figures and choose neither.
  • YAKA’s notes: Target Species says Cat, Pet Type says Cat and Dog, and the breed, size and weight notes disagree.
  • XIMA’s pair count: the title says 24 pairs and the bullet says “48PCS(12pairs)”. This guide uses the title figure.
  • ondware’s piece count: the specification block says Number of Items is 1, while the title and bullets describe 60 bows.
  • PET SHOW’s clip mechanism and maker, since the bullets do not describe the clip and the manufacturer is named as Bysitshow.
  • Care instructions for seven of the eight listings, which the listing text does not state.
  • Whether any bow length fits a dog’s head or ears. The listings give length but no fitting guide, and the grooming pages give none either.
  • Anything beyond the bullets and specifications in our research file. We did not open the full listing pages for this guide.

FAQ

Which bow size should I choose for a small dog?

The listings state three sizes: 1 inch for the PET SHOW snap clip, 1.5 inches for four bow listings and 2 inches for three. None of them gives a head or ear measurement, so compare the stated length with the spot where the bow will sit before you order.

Do these clips stay in place?

Three listings say they do. QingHan says its bows hold firmly without falling off, YAKA says its clips will not fall off, and ondware says its clips stay firmly attached and prevent slips. Those are listing claims, and no outside source we opened covers clips.

Are these clips safe for my dog’s skin, eyes or hair?

This guide makes no such claim. None of the listings states a skin or eye safety check. Ondware says its bows are “Soft and gentle on fur”, which is a listing claim. If your dog has skin irritation or a sore spot, ask your veterinarian before you use a clip there.

How many pieces do I need?

Pairs are pieces divided by two, so the 20-piece PET SHOW pack gives 10 pairs and the 60-piece sets give 30. Pieces per style is the piece count divided by the number of styles or colors the listing states, and every listing that states that number gives two pieces per style. Check the count before you buy, because the XIMA title and bullet disagree.

Can I use these on a cat?

Some listings say so. The JUCCPUL 24-piece listing gives “Cats, Dogs, Small Animals” as its target audience, and the YAKA listing gives “Cat, Dog” as its pet type. The grooming pages we opened are written for dogs, so they say nothing about bows on cats.

Do these work with long hair?

Two listings address it. PET SHOW’s bullets say the clips suit “both long hair and short hair”, and JUCCPUL’s 40-piece 1.5-inch bullets say the set suits “long-haired or short-haired pets”. Neither gives a hair-length rule, and the grooming pages we opened do not discuss clips at all.

Bottom line

Pick the bow length first, and buy only a listing that states both a clip type and a breed note that fits your dog. If a listing leaves either out or contradicts itself, as the QingHan and YAKA specifications do, choose another listing. Treat every “will not fall off” line as a listing claim.
