FXW 24-Inch Indoor Dog Playpen Review

An indoor playpen keeps a puppy or small dog in one room, and the panel height and wire spacing matter more than the color. The FXW Homeplus indoor dog playpen is a black metal pen with six panels, a 24-inch height and a threshold-free gate. This review uses the listing’s panel sizes, wire spacing and contents, and explains where the listing does not state what it needs to.
Quick answer
The FXW playpen is a six-panel metal pen, 24 inches tall, for puppies and small dogs. It comes as five panels plus a gate, with seven stakes. The listing gives a wire spacing of 5.39 inches tall by 1.48 inches wide, and says the pen can be expanded by adding panels. Check the wire spacing against your puppy’s head and paws before you buy.
Who this pen suits
It suits a puppy or small dog that needs a safe area indoors, and an owner who wants a walk-in gate and an expandable pen. It is less suited to a dog that jumps well over 24 inches, or one that can push through or squeeze through the wire spacing. A puppy in the pen also needs things to chew, so see safe chew toys for teething puppies and what chew toys are safe for puppies.

Check the wire spacing and height
A small puppy can get its head through a gap that looks too small to an adult. The listing gives the wire spacing, so measure your puppy’s head width and the depth of its chest before you buy. Also check the height against how high your dog can jump from a standing start.
What the listing claims
The bullets say the pen has no sharp edges, is strong enough to withstand jumping, and has a threshold-free gate. These are the seller’s claims and the listing does not give a test result. Check the frame and stakes when you set it up, and tighten any loose parts.
